An industrial control board under a bench microscope with test probes placed on it during fault diagnosis

Part Repair & Sourcing

Skip the lead time. Reduce the downtime.

Don't wait 6 weeks for a new part. Our repair partners work at component level with free UK collection and delivery*, an average 7 day turnaround and 12 month warranty on repairs.

Is industrial equipment repair worth it, or should we just replace?

Repair is usually the better commercial answer, for three reasons:

  • Cost. Repair lands at a fraction of replacement.
  • Lead time. It removes the wait entirely — on obsolete or superseded equipment that is often the number that really hurts.
  • Continuity. The machine stays on its existing control platform, so there is no re-parameterising, no re-commissioning and no retraining people on something new.

Replacement wins when a unit is physically destroyed, when the failure is so widespread that the repair is uneconomic, or when a current-production part is cheap and available. We will tell you which situation you are in before you commit — including when the answer is to buy new.

One contract, whoever ends up holding the soldering iron

Site Support Group is the single point of contact. You raise the job with us, we place it with the right specialist in the network, and we stay accountable until the unit is back on your shelf and working. One contract, one invoice, one person to chase.

Behind that, the repair work itself is carried out by our vetted repair partners in their own facility. Their technicians hold IPC7711 and IPC7721 certification for board-level rework and work to ISO 9001:2015 — and they run an in-house R&D function that builds bespoke test rigs when no test method exists for a given board. Two of the case studies below came out of exactly that.

How a repair actually runs

Four stages, one point of contact throughout. You deal with us; we deal with the workshop.

  1. We collect

Tell us what has failed and where it is. Collection is arranged across the UK at no charge, and the unit is booked in against your account with its serial, its symptoms and who reported them.

  2. We diagnose and quote

The unit is bench-tested to confirm the reported fault before anyone opens it, then stripped to component level. You get a fixed quote and an honest verdict — including when replacement is the better buy.

  3. We repair

Board-level rework is carried out by IPC-7711/7721 certified technicians working to ISO 9001. Failed components are replaced with tested equivalents, not bodged around.

  4. We prove it, then return it

Nothing ships on a continuity check. Units are soak tested, load tested and exercised against manufacturer software, and come back with the test evidence and a 12-month warranty.

And the sourcing half

Not everything is worth repairing, and pretending otherwise would waste your money. When a part genuinely needs replacing we source it — new, refurbished, or a supported equivalent where the original is obsolete.

As the network grows, partners combine their buying power and share stock between sites, so you are not paying single-site list price. Obsolescence risk gets flagged early, while there is still time to plan rather than react.

Common questions

What can actually be repaired?

Drives and inverters, industrial PCBs, HMIs and PLCs, power supplies, motors, barcode scanners and machine vision units, industrial printers, safety light curtains, pneumatic and vacuum equipment, AS-i gateways, conveyor motors, mobile powered workstations and AutoStore grid components. If your part is not on that list, send the part number — the underlying technology is usually something already covered.

How much does a repair cost compared with replacement?

It varies by item, but repair is typically a fraction of replacement cost, and it removes the lead time entirely. You get a fixed quote after diagnosis, and an honest recommendation to replace instead when that is genuinely the better buy.

What is the turnaround?

Seven days as standard, from collection. Tell us at enquiry stage if a line is down and the job is prioritised on arrival.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — 12 months on every repair, with the test evidence returned alongside the unit.

Who actually does the repair work?

Our vetted repair partners, in their own facility. Their technicians hold IPC7711 and IPC7721 certification and work to ISO 9001:2015. You deal with Site Support Group throughout — one contract, one point of contact, one invoice.

Do you collect, and is it chargeable?

Collection is arranged free of charge across the UK. Units come back tracked, with full repair documentation.

Can you repair equipment another provider called unrepairable?

Very often, yes. That verdict usually reflects the previous provider's diagnostic reach rather than the state of the unit. Several of the case studies on this site are exactly that situation.

What if a part genuinely cannot be repaired?

Then we source it. That is the second half of this service line — new, refurbished or a supported equivalent, priced through the network's combined buying power.

What needs repairing

The fault as it presents, and whether the line is down. A sentence or two is plenty.
